An Evening during the Pandemic

Evening.
Evening sounds good with a cup of tea and gossip around the tea stall, a relaxation amidst the hustle-bustle of our daily routine. But what about masked faces and captivity within the four walls? A new word is added to our vocabulary box, 'quarantine'. Life changed drastically after COVID-19. An eye on the idiot box where the intellectuals discussing the facts about the new virus and the daily counts of new positives is the new trend followed every evening. Whereas the cup of tea remained constant.

The new normal was hurting different people differently. Employed people living a mundane life with a salary at the end of the month, the only motivating factor.  Students with a blurred future yet rely upon Netflix. But people within the gap of student and employment suffer the most. Thumbs are tired of scrolling through Facebook newsfeeds and checking the WhatsApp status bar. Eyes dried staring at the computer screen. Heart and mind full of fear of uncertainty. Perhaps it feels so hard because I belong to this group. Though being with the family is the most motivating factor.

One such evening during the pandemic, a soul drenching with the burden of academic degrees and unemployment thought to pen down the turmoil in the mind. Blogging seemed to be the escape. That is how I posted my first blog in Blogspot!😊

A Ray of Hope

Sometimes Life is harsh. Career, family, relationships.... whatnot? So many eyes with sparkling hopes staring at you! Far before you realise it, you are already surrounded by the constant pressure to improve in every field. Hence ' Hopelessness ' is inevitable, giving you nightmares. It was 5:30 in the morning when I woke up having such a nightmare. What else could be a better refreshment than nature? After reaching the top of the hill, almost gasping, crossing the narrow stony lanes across the woods, when I looked up at the sky so high, I realised nothing could be more beautiful than Life itself. And you know what keeps you alive? ' A ray of Hope '.

Kuch Mitha ho Jaye! : An Ode to the Cadbury

Kiss me... Close your eyes, miss me... And you end up your thoughts in the world of Cadbury, right? The purple wrapper with a chocolatey cover. Aha! The worldwide crush. Have you ever thought about where this Cadbury chocolate came from? It all started as a beverage in the 1820s and it's continuing as a chocolate bar. Well, all thanks to John Cadbury! 😋 Since childhood, I have had 'the Cadbury cravings'. When everything around seemed simple to the rest of the world, the world of kids was something different. Beyond all fun, a school bag loaded with books and copies, sitting straight in all eight long periods, homecoming with a bunch of homework was not easy. The day used to end up with a dream of Dairy Milk ..... " Kitna maza aye re.... Duniya Dairy Milk ki Bann jaye...!  "  Earth revolves around the sun for 365 days 6 hours and 9 minutes ✖ 13 and then homo sapiens enter into the most confusing period of their life till they turn 19 or 20 or sometimes even 21. A Great Fall of 23.9%

Figures above 50,000 look good in salary. But what if it's a contagious flame of a pandemic? India is witnessing a hike of more than 90,000 COVID positive cases each day. Amidst this situation, students are driven by the career forces to appear in the JEE  and NEET exam where social distancing is merely visible. Meanwhile, data released by the government confirmed that India is confronting a GDP contraction by 23.9% for the first quarter of 2020, i.e., for the April - June period. Though the steepest decline in annual GDP of India was recorded during 1979-80, this marked the worst incident of negative quarterly GDP growth in India since 1996 (quarterly GDP was recorded for the first time in 1996).   Although China recorded positive growth, major economies are facing a downfall in the quarterly GDP as compared to 2019. It cannot be denied that lockdown is one of the crucial reasons for it.  The United Kingdom(UK) reported a 21.7% shrinkage in their quarterly GDP, wher...
